Family Safety Planning
December 5, 2022 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm CST

Does your family have a safety plan in place for an emergency? While thinking about emergencies and worst-case scenarios may not be the most pleasant conversation to have with your spouse, partner, or family, they are critically important. In fact, keeping your family safe is likely a top priority, but it doesn’t mean we necessarily know what to prepare for, or how to prepare.
Join us for a peer-to-peer conversation on emergency and firearm safety planning for the whole family. As veteran-connected families, it’s likely this topic has come up in your family, or you may have questions or concerns about safety planning. We want to learn from one another as to what types of plans your family already has in place. And if you haven’t had these conversations, we want to hear what questions and concerns you have. Join as a couple, or as an individual to discuss and learn more about how to keep your family safe if an emergency does arise.
At the end of the conversation, we will have a researcher from the VA join us to share a study opportunity for veteran couples, whereby they can meet with a counselor to create a firearm safety plan and receive compensation for their participation in the study.
To be eligible for this session you must be a veteran or the spouse/partner of a veteran. Couples are encouraged to attend together, but it is not required.
Eligibility for our VSN Social Clubs varies by session, so please check our Eventbrite page to see other social clubs that may interest you.
