About the Author: LaPora Lindsey
As a Certified Workforce Development Professional and military spouse, LaPora Lindsey considers her professional identity a combination of inspiration, education, and writing. Over the past 13 years, she has worked in career services assisting individuals and groups by providing insights on how each person's recognition can positively impact the workplace.
After a PCS move in 2010, LaPora's career trajectory shifted to unemployment, followed by years of being stagnant. After facing a negative job hunt and a chance encounter with a career professional, LaPora began to study career development. Over the years, she has taken lessons learned through her own experiences and those of others and created workshops and keynotes that provide new approaches to the challenges in careers.
In September 2022, LaPora released her first book, “Bottom of the Food Chain: A Fresh Perspective on How Your Career Impact Goes Beyond Your Job Title.” The book is a combination of self-help and career advice that help each person to see the impact they can make at entry-level or during a career transition.
You are not required to have the book to participate in this event, this event will be an overview of key tenants within the book.
The Book – Bottom of the Food Chain: A Fresh Perspective on How Your Career Impact Goes Beyond Your Job Title.
Review: “Bottom of the Food Chain is a great perspective and help for those who may not feel they're in a position of power or more in the role of a “worker bee.” The reminder that your work matters, ideas for growth and how to see your own potential, as well as space for your own reflection is a great antidote for the “quiet quitting” currently making the rounds. Learning how you bring value to your work may well set you up for your dream job, or you may just find yourself realizing that, regardless of the time it's taking to climb –or not climb– up the ladder, you can always find opportunities for growth and learn to “lead up.” Who should read this? Anyone feeling stale or stuck. LaPora Lindsey brings a wise voice and shares her own experiences of learning your value as a Power Producer, no matter your job title or role.”
