Let’s Talk about Love: Support for Spouses
October 29, 2022 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am CDT

Military and veteran couples face challenges many others do not. Frequent and sometimes long absences often disrupt active duty life. Veteran life is often marked by the lingering effects of service, such as chronic pain, changed mobility, civilian employment, or the mental effects of war. We often choose our battles and set our relationship needs, expectations, and frustration aside to avoid tough conversations and the inevitable conflict. But relationships like rosebushes left untended get out of control, and the thorns get harder to avoid. Over time, hurt feelings, unmet expectations, and frustration build up like the untended rosebush.
Let's Talk Love: Support for Spouses is a 3 part mini-series on love and relationships. Spouses and committed partners of active duty and veteran service members will come together to learn relationship skills. In Oct 29/Session 1: Conflict, we talk about how to fight fair, express our needs and identify realistic relationship expectations. Nov 5/Session 2: Building Intimacy covers the various types of intimacy and ways to build them all. Nov 12/Session 3: A Little Bit Every Day is about setting routines and goals and choosing your relationship daily. Let's Talk Love: Support for Spouses are closed sessions, and committing to all three is encouraged, starting on Saturday, Oct 28, 2022, at 10 AM CDT (11 AM ET, 9 AM MT, 8 AM PT)
To be eligible for this group you must be the spouse or committed partner of an active duty service member or post-service veteran.
