But to create programs and policies that truly support spouses\, we first need to understand their experiences. Findings from the inaugural Military & Veteran Spouse Wellness Survey provide one of the most comprehensive looks yet at the state of military and veteran spouse wellness nationwide. \n\n\n\nJoin Dr. Elisa Borah and Dr. Katherine Gower from the Institute for Military and Veteran Family Wellness as they share key findings from the survey\, discuss emerging trends in spouse wellness\, and explore how research can inform meaningful change for military and veteran families. The presenters will also discuss the newly launched survey and how spouses and community members can help ensure military and veteran spouse voices are heard. \n\n\n\nWhether you’re a spouse\, partner\, veteran\, service member\, provider\, or community advocate\, you’ll leave with a deeper understanding of the strengths\, challenges\, and needs shaping military and veteran spouse wellness today. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Speaker\n\n\n\nDr. Elisa Borah is the Director of the Institute for Military and Veteran Family Wellness and Moritz Center for Societal Impact at The University of Texas at Austin and founder of the Veteran Spouse Network. Her work focuses on research\, education\, and community-based solutions that strengthen support systems and improve outcomes for military and veteran spouses\, service members\, veterans\, and their families. \n\n\n\nDr. Katherine Gower is a Research Associate with the Institute for Military and Veteran Family Wellness whose work focuses on military and veteran family well-being\, community-based research\, and the development of evidence-informed programs and interventions. She played a key role in the design\, implementation\, and analysis of the Military & Veteran Spouse Wellness Survey and is committed to translating research into practical insights that improve outcomes for military and veteran spouses and their families. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat You’ll Gain\n\n\n\n\nA clearer picture of the wellness trends shaping the military and veteran spouse community today.\n\n\n\nGreater awareness of the challenges and strengths of military and veteran spouses across the country.\n\n\n\nA better understanding of why spouse-focused research matters and how it drives meaningful change.\n\n\n\nA chance to participate in the current Military and Veteran Spouse Wellness Survey.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis Event is Open To\n\n\n\nThis event is open to all members of the military and veteran-connected community. Unlike our peer-based programs\, these are more informational than discussion-based and open to the broader community\, delivering expert insights\, practical tools\, and evidence-based wellness strategies. \n\n\n\n\nWhat is Let’s Talk About It\, and how does it relate to EmpowerEd?\nLet’s Talk About It is an optional peer support event hosted after many of our EmpowerEd seminars\, offering space to reflect\, connect\, and share. While EmpowerEd is expert-led\, this event centers on open conversation. Seminar attendance is encouraged but not required; register separately. \n\n\n\n\nHow should I prepare for the event?\nFor the best experience\, we recommend joining from a quiet\, distraction-free space and arriving on time\, as participants who join more than 15 minutes late may not be admitted. Be sure to have your Zoom link ready from your confirmation email. \n\n\n\n\nWhy can’t I register for this event?\nYou must register at least 72 hours before an event. Most programs are ongoing series with multiple dates. Please check our calendar for upcoming sessions. \n\n\n\n\nDo I have to pay to attend?\nNo\, all events are completely free to attend. We are a grant-based program and believe in removing barriers to connection and support and are proud to offer these sessions at no cost to our community. \n\n\n\n\nDo I need to live in Texas to participate?\nNo—VSN is based at the University of Texas at Austin’s Institute for Military & Veteran Family Wellness\, but we are a nationwide network open to any military-connected individuals in the US and beyond. \n\n\n\n\nDisclaimer\nParticipant Safety Reminder: \n\n\n\nThe Veteran Spouse Network (VSN) is committed to providing a supportive and respectful environment where participants can connect with peers and share their experiences.  \n\n\n\nBecause participant safety is our highest priority\, confidentiality is not absolute. If a VSN Peer Leader or staff member becomes concerned that a participant or another person may be at risk of serious harm\, we may take steps to support safety. Depending on the situation\, this could include notifying VSN staff\, providing crisis resources\, contacting emergency services\, making reports required by law\, or taking other reasonable actions to protect safety.  \n\n\n\nVSN is a non-clinical peer support program and does not provide emergency services\, crisis counseling\, therapy\, case management\, legal advice\, or domestic violence advocacy. However\, we are committed to connecting participants with appropriate resources when safety concerns arise.  \n\n\n\nBy participating in VSN programs\, you acknowledge and understand these limits of confidentiality and VSN’s commitment to participant safety.
