DESCRIPTION:Rosa Kline\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVirtual\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTake the First Step Toward Suicide Prevention\n\n\n\nJoin us for a free\, full-day training on Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and Conversations on Access to Lethal Means (CALM Conversations)—two nationally recognized\, evidence-based trainings that equip you to support someone in crisis with knowledge\, confidence\, and compassion. \n\n\n\nThrough interactive instruction and hands-on safety planning exercises\, you’ll learn to navigate difficult conversations\, reduce risk\, and offer meaningful support. The training covers common mental health and substance use challenges in adults—such as depression\, anxiety\, psychosis\, and substance use disorders—and introduces a practical 5-step action plan to guide your response in both crisis and non-crisis situations. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Mental Health First Aid\n\n\n\nMental Health First Aid is a skills-based training that teaches you how to identify\, understand\, and respond to signs of mental health or substance use challenges using a 5-step action plan (ALGEE) to guide you through how to assess risk\, listen without judgment\, and connect someone to professional help. MHFA helps you build the confidence to step in when someone may be struggling. Scenarios and exercises make the learning practical\, so you leave ready to help in real-life situations. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Conversations on Access to Lethal Means (CALM Conversations)\n\n\n\nCALM Conversations offers practical tools for discussing safe storage of lethal means\, like firearms or medications\, during a suicidal crisis. This course empowers everyday people to have respectful\, life-saving conversations that can reduce the risk of suicide by putting time and space between a person in crisis and lethal means. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat You'll Gain\n\n\n\n\nPractical skills to recognize and respond to mental health or substance use challenges in adults\n\n\n\nTools for tough conversations around suicide risk and lethal means\n\n\n\nStrategies that save lives by reducing access to lethal means during times of crisis\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCertifications & CEUs\n\n\n\nUpon completion\, this session qualifies for continuing education units (CEUs) and professional certifications: \n\n\n\n\nMental Health First Aid (MHFA): 3-year certification | 7.5 CEUs\n\n\n\nCounseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM): 1-year certification | 1.5 CEUs\n\n\n\n\nTo request your certificate and a CEU submission form for state certification\, please email us after attending the training. \n\n\n\nPlease note: This training includes 2 hours of required self-paced pre-course work prior to the live session. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis Event is Open To\n\n\n\nThis event is open to individuals nationwide. SUMMARY:Exploring Wellness Through Music and Storytelling
DESCRIPTION:Rosa Kline\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVirtual\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDiscover the Science of Sound and Share Your Journey\n\n\n\nJoin VSN Peer Leader Kelley Glover for a two-part virtual workshop that blends the art of storytelling with the science of music. In this interactive series\, you’ll uncover how sound impacts emotional well-being\, learn practical techniques for calming the nervous system\, and connect with others through shared musical experiences.  \n\n\n\nThis workshop takes place across two sessions with a creative project in between.  \n\n\n\nSession 1: The Science of Sound and Your Musical Story | April 29\, 7–8 PM CT \n\n\n\nDuring the first session\, Kelley will introduce the science of sound and guide participants through an assignment to create a personal musical autobiography. Over the following four weeks\, you’ll reflect on the songs and stories that have shaped your military journey and develop your project to share with the group. \n\n\n\nSession 2: Sharing Your Musical Autobiography | May 27\, 7–8:30 PM CT \n\n\n\nIn the second session\, participants will come back together to share their musical autobiographies and connect through the power of music and storytelling. \n\n\n\nYour musical autobiography can take many forms. You might: \n\n\n\n\nCreate a slideshow with images and music to tell your story\n\n\n\nBuild a playlist that represents your journey\n\n\n\nSelect meaningful song lyrics that help share your experiences\n\n\n\n\nWhether you’re a lifelong music lover or simply curious about the therapeutic potential of sound\, this workshop offers a creative and supportive space to explore wellness and connect with others. \n\n\n\nParticipants are expected to attend both sessions. During Session 1\, you will receive the musical autobiography assignment and have four weeks to work on it before sharing your project in Session 2. If you’re unable to attend Session 1 live\, a recording will be provided so you can still complete the assignment and participate in Session 2. \n\n\n\nAbout the Speaker\n\n\n\nDr. Kelley T.
