Bertram, TX – Sarah is a navy brat with a post 9/11 Combat Marine Veteran spouse. They met while he was in service just months before he was deployed, and married 2 years later after he was discharged. Sarah didn’t know him very long before he deployed, but she knew him enough to understand he came back a changed man. Regardless, she was all in: they’ve been married 17 years and have one son. They have faced many struggles and had some great help from the Vet Center when they lived in Vermont, but, when they made the move to Texas a few years ago, they realized the support wasn’t as close as they were used to. Sarah went searching for some sense of community like she had up north and was so glad she came across the Veteran Spouse Network. She knew immediately she needed to become a part of this group to help others.
