Honoring Laurianne Rodriguez, the 2023 Yellow Rose of Texas

Laurianne Rodriguez receiving Yellow Rose of Texas

The Institute is so proud of our staff member, Veteran Spouse Network Program Coordinator, Laurianne Rodriguez, for her recent honor of receiving the Yellow Rose of Texas award commission. The Yellow Rose of Texas award was established in 1957 by former Texas Governor, Allan Shivers. It is the highest award given to a Texas woman in the area of community service, Texas preservation, and advocacy.

It’s not unusual for a military spouse to be a professional volunteer.  Due to relocating frequently, the military lifestyle, childcare issues, and rural assignments, it can be difficult to find employment or equitable employment.  Laurianne is a USAF veteran from Texas and has served as an advocate speaking on behalf of military spouse issues as a key spouse and key spouse mentor for nearly a decade at three consecutive Texas assignments. She has promoted military spouse and child educational scholarship opportunities and currently serves on the Senatorial Nomination Board for the US Military Service Academies. Laurianne was presented this award by the 19th AF A4 Director, Jay Hennette at the retirement ceremony of her spouse, Lt Col Cleve Rodriguez USAF (ret), on Aug 31, 2023 at Randolph AFB.
