Bastrop, TX – I volunteer with Veteran Spouse Network because I want to help other Veteran Spouses and Partners, like myself, to receive the support that is sorely lacking within the Veteran Community. I found that my spouse’s transition to civilian life not only affected him but me as well. Finding the Veteran Spouse Network and participating in their Veteran Spouse Resiliency Group program helped me find myself again. Becoming a Leader in the V-SRG program has helped me to give hope to other Spouses and Partners of Veterans by letting them know that they are not alone and that there is a community that understands their struggles, their pain, and their love for their Veteran. The look of relief on a participant’s face when they share a struggle for the first time in group and then realize that the group understands and is not going to judge them in any way is my favorite part. I get it because I had that feeling as a participant and it is so freeing!
