Tampa, FL – Mickia was born into a military family and is the spouse of a Marine Corps veteran who served 21 years of active duty. Being married for 31 years, Mickia and her Veteran are passionate about the health and well-being of relationships and families and have mentored many couples over the years. Professionally Mickia has developed behavioral treatment programs for Virginia Medicaid and managed domestic violence shelters, children's programs, and family preservation programs for corporate and non-profit sectors.
In her work, Mickia advocates for children involved in the court dependency system as Guardian ad litem. She also welcomes military and veteran families, supporting them and providing resources to connect them to their local community with a lens that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, attending cultural events, and volunteering in her community.
