Rapunzel Stephens-Clements is a compassionate advocate for military families, a champion for veteran spouses, and a dedicated Peer Leader whose life and work are rooted in service, faith, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to helping others. Proud to call the beautiful Sunshine State of Florida home, Rapunzel has built a life deeply rooted in community, purpose, and service. As the devoted spouse of a Gulf War-era disabled Army veteran, she brings more than two decades of personal experience navigating the often-invisible challenges of caregiving, trauma, sacrifice, resilience, and hope. Her journey has given her a profound understanding of the courage it takes to keep moving forward when the path becomes difficult.
In 2023, Rapunzel stepped into a peer leadership role with a heartfelt desire to create a safe- haven for veteran spouses—a place where they can come without judgment, speak without fear, share their stories without shame, and know they are never alone. Through peer support and advocacy, she works to break the silence surrounding the struggles military families often carry behind closed doors while helping reduce the stigma surrounding PTSD, TBI, moral injury, caregiving, and life alongside a wounded veteran.
Rapunzel believes that the experiences we endure do not have to define us—they can become the very experiences that give us the strength to help someone else. Her personal motto, “Your story is your strength,” reflects that belief. Every scar, struggle, sacrifice, and tear can become a source of courage, connection, and hope. She is committed to ensuring no veteran spouse carries the weight of their journey alone. Sometimes healing begins simply by being heard. Sometimes strength comes from knowing someone truly understands. And sometimes hope is restored when we realize that our story can help someone else find their way forward.
With more than 25 years of public service, including over two decades with the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons, Rapunzel has dedicated much of her professional life to serving others. Her career has been defined by integrity, leadership, accountability, resilience, and a commitment to helping people navigate some of life’s most challenging circumstances. She holds a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Social Work, an educational foundation that complements her personal and professional experiences and strengthens her commitment to trauma-informed support, advocacy, and service. For Rapunzel, advocacy is more than a role—it is a calling. Her faith in God is at the heart of that calling: “God does not call the qualified—He qualifies the called. And we are called to stand in the gap for those who once stood in the gap for us.” Rapunzel is honored to stand in that gap. She serves because she understands. She listens because she has walked the journey. She advocates because she believes every story matters. And she continues to serve because she knows that sometimes the greatest gift we can give another person is the simple assurance: You are seen. You are heard. You are valued. And you do not have to walk this journey alone.
