V-SRG: Compassion Fatigue
April 25 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm CDT

Join our peer leader and intern Rachel for an opportunity to connect with other military and veteran spouses/partners to learn more about compassion fatigue and how to combat it. So what is compassion fatigue? It is often referred to as the negative cost of caring, experienced by many caregivers (and you don't have to identify as a caregiver to be one – you just have to care). It can take on some of the same symptoms as PTSD, and leave us feeling exhausted and overwhelmed.
As people who care, it is critical that we take intentional steps to care for ourselves. Caring shouldn’t hurt, so in this session, participants will learn more about compassion fatigue signs and symptoms, share their own experiences with burnout, and discuss strategies to combat compassion fatigue and prioritize their own wellness. This session’s content will pull from our Veteran Spouse Resiliency Group (V-SRG) curriculum, and give you a little taste of the support from the larger program.
Note: To be eligible for this group you must be the spouse or partner of an active duty service member or post-service veteran. If you have been a past participant in the V-SRG program, you are still eligible to join this session.
