Let’s Talk About it: Embracing Change – Understanding Grief Beyond Death
August 30 @ 11:00 am – 12:00 pm CDT
Grief isn't just about death, it is about loss. Join together with peers to discuss how to move through grief and loss with grace.
We all experience grief and loss in our lives. After a loss, it is important to recognize that the feelings you're experiencing may actually be grief, even if the loss is not related to death. In the military and veteran community, we can experience a lot of loss. We may experience the loss of our community of support when we PCS or the loss of the military community as a whole when our family leaves active duty service. As the loved one of an ill, injured, or wounded service member or veteran, we may feel a sense of loss of a version of our loved one or the relationship or life we had with them, and the list goes on and on.
This session serves as the peer support complement for the Embracing Change: Understanding Grief Beyond Death EmpowerEd seminar with guest speaker, Samantha Synett. In this peer-to-peer session, VSN peer leaders, Yolanda Gaines & Cassandra Garcia, will facilitate a discussion to allow attendees to process the educational material presented in the EmpowerEd seminar and share their personal experiences related to grief and loss. You do not need to attend the EmpowerEd seminar, but it is encouraged. You can register for the EmpowerED session HERE if you have not done so already.
