Divorced Military/Veteran Spouses-Peer Support
July 18 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm CDT

Divorce or separation is one of life’s most stressful events. In the military culture, a divorced spouse may find his/herself separated from the military community they have grown to love. He/She may feel divorced from the military too. This can be especially challenging if the children stay with the military service member. How do you parent if facing an around the world PCS? Or the couple may feel that the military lifestyle and challenges created stress and influenced the decision to divorce or separate. Are you thinking about divorce or are you currently separated?
Just because there is a marital divorce, a couple may still be in a relationship with each other, a parenting relationship, a friendship, or even an advocacy or caregiving relationship if the veteran or service member has a disability or health condition. Navigating military or veteran benefits can be very challenging if divorced. Let’s talk about all of these questions and more. Heike Vargas will lead this group and discuss the impacts of divorce or separation on the military and veteran family. Let's share and offer peer support to one another. Let’s also support those spouses currently going through a divorce or separation or even thinking about it as we offer a safe place to come together with our VSN community.
This event is open to those divorced or currently separated from a military service member or post service veteran.
